  • Do I have a mentor?
    Yes, you should be introduced to your Transition mentor the Spring/Summer of your high school junior year. Reach out to your high school mentor if you lost contact or have other questions.
  • What resources and support are available to me?
    You will be supported by your Transition mentor and have access to resources on CONNECT. Reach out to them for more personalized resources and support!
  • Who are the PS Transition mentors?
    The Bay Area Transition mentors are Anika, Caro, Aus, Josephine and Noemi. Meet them HERE!
  • Who is my mentor?
    Your junior year, you will be supported by your high school mentor. As you wrap up your junior year, you will be joined by a transition mentor for 2 years to further support you on your post-secondary plans.
  • How often am I supposed to connect with my transition mentor?
    There is 1 required meeting, Junior Post-Secondary Advising 1:1, to meet your transition mentor. Note: Stay engaged with your transition mentor to make the most out of the support and resources of Summer Search!
  • I have heard that I am part of the high school and transition program. What does that mean?
    You will be supported by your high school and transition mentor. Your transition mentor will specifically support you as you transition out of high school.
  • When and how should I start planning for my post-secondary pathways?
    You will begin to plan for your post-secondary pathways at the end of your junior year. Whether your post-secondary plans are traditional college or an alternative pathway, your transition mentor will be there every step of the way to support and guide you into adulthood. Reach out to your high school or transition mentor for more information of what you can start doing now!
  • I want to go to college. What support and resources are available to me?
    You will have access to personalized assistance in applications, application materials and financial aid to make sure you are on track to achieve your post-secondary education goals.
  • I do not want to go to college or want to explore alternative pathways. What support and resources are available to me?
    No worries! Reach out to your high school or transition mentor to learn about alternative pathways and how Summer Search can support you.
  • Who is my mentor?
    Your senior year, you will continue to have two mentors: a high school and transition mentor.
  • How often am I supposed to connect with my mentor and group?
    You will be required to connect with your mentor 5 times your senior year including: - Senior Post-Secondary Advising 1:1 (Aug-Feb) - Financial aid check-in (Oct-Mar) - College Cost &/or Budgeting 1:1 (Feb-May) - Final Decision 1:1 (April-June) - Senior Reflection with high school and transition mentor (June-Aug) It is highly recommended to contact them more frequently and stay engaged.
  • What support and resources are available to me?
    During your Senior year, Summer Search will support you in finishing off high school and planning to succeed in your post-secondary pathways. You will be provided 2 mentors, resources, tools and a community with limitless support.
  • I graduated high school, now what?
    Congratulations! You will be having your Senior Reflection meeting in the Summer where you will say goodbye to your high school mentor and fully transition into our Post-Secondary Transition program.
  • Do I have to attend the Senior Celebration or Senior Reflection?
    The Senior Reflection is necessary because it will mark your official entry into the Post-Secondary program. You will officially say goodbye to your high school mentor, and get your Transition mentor up to date to best serve and support you to achieve your post-secondary pathways. The Senior Celebration is not required but we would love to see you there!
  • Do I have a mentor?
    Yes, you will continue to be supported by your Transition mentor. If unsure of who they are, reach out to your old high school mentor. If your summer search high school mentor is no longer here, go to our 'Who We Are' page and find the director or manager of the post-secondary program to ask who your transition mentor is.
  • What resources and support are available to me?
    You will continue to have access to your Transition mentor and resources available on CONNECT or from your mentor.
  • Is there a commitment expectation?
    No, we are here for you when needed! Note: The more engaged you are with your transition mentor, the more support and resources they can personalize and offer to you.
  • Are there any required events?
    No, but be on the look out for Post-Secondary Program events on CONNECT!.
  • I have career and job-related questions. Who can help me?
    Your transition mentor can support you with career and job-related questions. Feel free to reach out to our career navigator, Fernando Serrato, for more support and resources!
  • Who are the Pathways mentors? How can I contact one?
    Our Bay Area Pathways mentor is Jocelyn Sanchez. You can contact her on CONNECT or email! Find other pathways mentors and career navigators HERE.
  • I am 2-6 years out of high school and in college, what does that mean?
    You are in the Pathways program. You will have access to your Pathways mentor, Jocelyn Sanchez, as well as resources and support most of which can be found on CONNECT. You can also contact other Pathways mentors or a career navigator through CONNECT!
  • I am 2-6 years out of high school and have graduated college, what does that mean?
    Congratulations, you will now be joining our Alumni program! You will continue to receive support and resources as well as access to our alumni network. You will no longer have a mentor. However, the Alumni program offers job and career support, and a supportive community!
  • I am 6+ years out of high school. What does that mean?
    If not already, you will now be joining the Alumni program! You will continue to receive support and resources as well as access to our alumni network. You will no longer have a mentor. However, the Alumni program offers job and career support, and a supportive community!
